Frequently asked questions
The timeline depends on the size and complexity of your project. A standard log home typically takes 3 to 4 months to manufacture and 2 to 3 months to assemble on site. That covers foundation preparation, log assembly, roofing, and interior finishing. Planning permission and design phases can add another 2 to 3 months.
Yes. Modern log buildings perform very well on energy use. The natural thermal mass of wood provides good insulation, keeping homes warm in winter and cool in summer. Our logs are kiln-dried to a stable moisture content and engineered for tight seals. Combined with modern double or triple glazing and proper roof insulation, our log buildings often exceed current building regulations for energy efficiency.
Yes, we provide full support throughout the planning permission process. Our team has years of experience working with local planning authorities across the UK. We prepare detailed architectural drawings, design and access statements, and handle the necessary documentation. We also assist with building regulations approval and can advise on permitted development rights where applicable.
Log buildings are low-maintenance when properly constructed. The exterior needs treatment with a quality wood preservative every 3 to 5 years, depending on weather exposure. We use Nordic timber that is naturally resistant to rot and insects. Regular inspections of the roof, foundations, and any settling are recommended in the first year. Interior maintenance is similar to any traditional home.
Our quotes include: the full log kit with all structural timbers, the roof structure, doors and windows (double glazed), a full weatherproofing system, detailed assembly drawings, and on-site technical support. Foundation work, internal finishing, plumbing, and electrical installations can be added as optional extras, or arranged with your local contractors.
Yes. Our log buildings meet all UK building regulations and are mortgageable through most major lenders. We provide the necessary certification and structural warranties. For insurance, log homes are treated as standard properties by most insurers. We can also recommend specialist insurers who understand log construction and often offer competitive rates.
We use slow-grown Nordic pine and spruce from sustainably managed forests in Finland and Northern Sweden. These trees grow slowly in cold climates, producing dense wood with tight growth rings, which is well suited to log construction. All our timber is FSC certified, kiln-dried to 18 to 20 percent moisture content, and treated with eco-friendly preservatives, which keeps the logs dimensionally stable.
Yes. We have completed projects across Europe, particularly in Romania where we have an established presence. We can deliver and assemble log buildings throughout the EU. Our overseas projects use the same Finnish manufacturing partners and the same installation teams, who are used to working across borders. Contact us to discuss your project.
