International project in Carpathian Mountains combining Romanian traditions with Finnish log expertise.
This spectacular mountain lodge in Brașov, Romania, showcases the finest traditions of Eastern European log construction. Nestled in the Carpathian Mountains with views of the medieval city below, this property combines Romanian architectural heritage with modern luxury.
The lodge is constructed using massive logs sourced from the surrounding Carpathian forests, with some logs exceeding 400mm in diameter. The construction employs traditional Romanian notching techniques passed down through generations, creating an incredibly robust structure capable of withstanding heavy snow loads and seismic activity. The distinctive high-pitched roof, covered with traditional wooden shingles, sheds snow efficiently while creating dramatic interior spaces.
Inside, the lodge features soaring ceilings with exposed log trusses that create a cathedral-like atmosphere. The great room includes a massive stone fireplace capable of heating the entire ground floor, with traditional Romanian tilework adding decorative detail. Hand-carved wooden details throughout the property showcase local craftsmanship, including intricate balustrades and door frames.
The lodge includes five bedrooms, each with traditional Romanian textiles and locally crafted furniture. The kitchen combines professional-grade equipment with traditional wood-fired ovens for authentic Romanian cooking. Additional features include a wine cellar carved into the mountain rock, a traditional Romanian spa with sauna and cold plunge pool, and covered terraces offering panoramic mountain views. This Brașov lodge represents the pinnacle of Romanian log construction.
