This remarkable holiday home on the Isle of Skye represents the perfect Highland retreat, combining traditional Scottish log construction with contemporary comfort. Set within a crofting landscape with views across to the Cuillin mountains, this property offers an authentic Scottish island experience.
The home is constructed using Scottish Larch logs that have been allowed to weather naturally, creating a silver-grey patina that blends perfectly with the Skye landscape. The construction features traditional Scottish detailing, including crow-stepped gables and deep-set windows that provide protection from Atlantic gales. The roof uses local Ballachulish slate, renowned for its durability in harsh weather conditions.
The interior embraces Highland culture with exposed log walls complemented by Harris Tweed furnishings and locally crafted furniture. The main living area features a double-height ceiling with a gallery landing, creating dramatic spaces filled with natural light. A large picture window frames views of the Cuillins, while a traditional peat-burning stove provides authentic Highland heating.
Accommodation includes three bedrooms, each themed around different aspects of Skye heritage. The master suite features panoramic mountain views and an en-suite with a copper bathtub. The kitchen combines modern appliances with traditional features, including a pantry for storing local produce. External features include a whisky tasting room, covered deck for wildlife watching, and a traditional Scottish garden with native plants that thrive in the island's unique climate.
